Hollywood and fiction in general have done a disservice to our understanding of serial killers. While these misconceptions and misinformation are fine for entertainment purposes, they couldn’t be further from the truth. Serial Killer – Daniel Camargo Barbosa
Some of the most sinister serial killers have come from Columbia. Daniel Camargo Barbosa is no exception. Born January 22, 1930 Daniel would go on a 12 year killing spree that would claim an estimated 75 – 150 victims. The estimation, is that despite there being evidence to suggest he raped and murdered 150 young women, the actual number could never be proven. Some estimates of the serial killer are as high as 300 victims.

While finding a mass grave with 11 decomposed corpses may sound like a chapter from a horror fiction novel, a woman and her dog stumbled upon this very scene while walking in West Mesa, an area outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Albuquerque police spend weeks recovering the bodies, which were found scattered across a large piece of land that was owned by an area home developer. The Zodiac Killer struck fear into the hearts of residents in northern California in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Who the Zodiac Killer is/was, still remains a mystery to this day. What is known is that this man, whomever he may be, left a wake of death and mystery behind him. The mystery surrounding this serial killer is second only to the murders of the infamous Jack the Ripper.
